An Exciting North Queensland Resort

It enjoys magnificent views of the Coral Sea, a local beach called “The Strand” and, in the distance, lovely Magnetic Island. Tropical gardens surround the resort.Historical Information

Jupiters Townsville Hotel and Casino opened for the first time in 1986. For many years, Jupiters functioned as a popular site for government and corporate meetings, in addition to serving as a gaming and recreational center. On October 1, 2014, the Colonial Leisure Group became the new owner of the facility. On its website the company announced that it plans to maintain and expand the facility as a leading center of recreation in Northern Australia. (www.jupiterstownsville.com.au)

The resort includes a hotel with variably priced accommodations, a casino, meeting facilities, live entertainment, four bars and several restaurants:

The hotel portion of the resort includes 194 guest rooms, many equipped with wheelchair and handicapped access amenities. The comfortable guest rooms fall into several different price ranges. Visitors can obtain space in many single rooms or suites, and there is also a two bedroom apartment. Many of the rooms provide stunning views of Magnetic Island and the local area.

Hotel patrons gain access to a gym equipped with exercise equipment and a sauna. A massage and spa service, Hands in Harmony, also offers beauty spa treatments, massages and wraps. Hotel services for guest include a message service, valet parking, voice mail facilities, currency exchange and luggage storage.

From the front desk, guests may arrange to participate in tours to local attractions of interest. Some of the sites that draw visitors to the nearby area include Magnetic Island (accessible via a ferry service that lies within walking distance from the hotel), shopping in the local community's business district and swimming at The Strand. Additionally, patrons sometimes visit the Museum of Tropical Queensland and Reef HQ Aquarium.

Gaming Facilities

Gaming facilities in the casino include both electronic slots and interactive computer games, 20 table games, TAB and Keno and an exclusive VIP Gaming Room. As a matter of law, only patrons 18 years of age or older may enter the casino. There are 370 electronic gaming machines, which include both individual jackpots and some progressive, linked jackpots. Participants can play for as little as one penny a spin to as much as a dollar a spin. The table games include Pontoon, Blackjack, Texas Holdem' Poker, Three Card Poker, Mini Baccarat, Roulette, Caribbean Stud Poker and The State Wheel. There are also two automated table games: Vegas Star and Rapid Roulette.

The casino provides a Vantage Reward Deck equipped with Keno, Keno Racing and TAB facilities. The latter combines South Australia, Queensland and Northern Territory gaming pools for greyhound and horse and harness racing games. Keno Racing allows players to place bets on simulated races every three minutes without a racing guide. Keno is a numbers game somewhat resembling a lottery drawing.

The VIP Gaming Room opens to a restricted clientele: VIP guests and people who have reached the top three tiers of the casino's Rewards program. It provides higher stakes gaming machines and tables, and also provides access to a complimentary light buffet and an outdoor area for guests seeking to eat or relax outside. The VIP Gaming Room boasts excellent views of Magnetic Island also.

Meeting Facilities

The resort includes space that can be rented for conferences and meetings. It contains the largest ballroom in the Townsville area, and also boasts a dedicated stage. Some 2000 people can attend concerts by musical bands in this location. Additionally, the casino often offers free live weekly performances by musicians and vocalists for the enjoyment of patrons at two of the bars on the premises, the Lobby Bar and the J Bar.

Restaurants

There are several restaurants and dining facilities located at the resort. Guests can purchase a formal lunch or dinner at Kobe Steak Restaurant, an award winning establishment which serves Australian steaks, other meat dishes and vegetarian meals. Buffets for breakfast, lunch or dinner are also available at the Aqua Restaurant. A cafe called “the Spin” sells snacks and teas to customers on the casino floor.
