Aussie Millions Poker Championship 2017 Scheduled
One of the biggest poker tournaments in the world, and Australia in specific, The Aussie Millions Poker Championship of 2017 has finally gotten its schedule released. As a part of the Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT), the annual highlight of the poker calendar is going to take place right at the Crown Casino that is located in the city of Melbourne from January 11th to January 30. Returning in 2017, are the main showpieces of the Aussie Million Tournament. They are the $100k Challenge tournament, the Main Event and finally, the High Roller $250k Challenge.
However, the Millions Poker Championship 2017 is going to begin with a 1 million guaranteed tournament of No Limit Hold’em that has a buy in price tag of 1,150. Another event that is making a grand return to the tournament is the No Limit Hol’dem Poker “Accumulator” which was first played in the city of Melbourne. This 1,150 tournament is going to have 3x separate Day 1’s. On the other hand, players can enter any number of Day 1’s that they want and bring on the accumulated chips with them to Day 2. Once again, the entire serious is expected to once again, be able to attract some of the top quality players from Australia and from around the world.
In 2016, a total of 732 runners applied to take part of the flagship event, the $10k Main Event. The host of WPT, Tony Dunst, didn’t have luck on his side as he came out as the runner up to the ultimate champion, Alan Engel. This year, the main event is going to take place from the 22nd to the 29th of January, which is a perfect timing as it coincides with the biggest Aussie tennis tournament that will be happening across the city of Melbourne, the Australian Open Grand Slam.
The champion of the 2016 version of the championship, Alan Engel was really a story for the books. Alan Engel is an Orthodox Jew who grew up in Canada and he was kicked out after his family knew that he has taken up poker. This is why his journey from being kicked out, to winning the 2016 Millions Poker Championship is something mesmerizing. The young poker player from Canada has managed to rack up a total of 4 million AUD in earnings from the 2016 tournament.
The championship is going to be preceded by a very special Warm Up Week, which will take place at the Crown Casino. This would take place from the 12th to the 18th of September, where free play mega satellites as well as $250 nightly satellites are going to be held. These will guarantee an entry to the main event of the 2017 tournament.
