James Chen Wins Two Rings during Aussie Millions 2017

James Chen, the Thai player sure enjoyed his time during the 2017 Aussie Millions event. This is because so far, the Thai player was able to score 2 championships rings. Two days ago, Chen has scored the latest victory. James Chen has entered the popular Aussie live poker series tournament and emerged as the winner of the biggest AU$25,000 challenge ever.

Throughout 2 days of hardcore poker playing, the Thai player was pitted against some of the biggest poker players in the world. Although he had to face a lot of big names in the sport, he did not look star struck at all. During the play, he always maintained a great exposure and emerged as the leader in chips as Day 1 ended and marched on his way towards the ring and the title on the second day.

James Chen Earns is Celebrity Status

Chen himself is starting to earn his celebrity status as he has become a poker celebrity in the Asia and Pacific region. This started last September when he managed to emerge on the top of the field during the Macau Poker Cup 25 High Roller event by cashing out $293,044. Before winning his AU$25000 event, a few days ago during the Aussie Million 2017, he captured his very first championship ring during the H.O.R.S.E A$2500 event. This is an event that is well known for being an accomplishment that would draw a lot of attention. This is because it shows proficiency in other poker versions, besides the popular Texas Hold'em Poker.

Chen's Journey to Win the AU$25,000 Challenge

The event took place throughout two days full of poker action. It was the biggest event in the history of the Aussie Millions series. The event drew 133 players, which is a significant increase when compared to last year's 122 players. This great interest in the event resulted in a big prize pool that reached AU$3,192,000.

Day 2 of the event kicked off with twenty-five players that were led by the chip leader, James Chen. The Thai player has lost this chip lead multiple times, but he never went under the top half line on the chip chart during the entire event. There are many top celebrities that left the tournament without cashing out like Stephen Chidwick, Chance Kornuth and Dan Shak.

The 7 handed final table had players like Nick Petrangelo, Mustapha Kanit, and the 5-time WSOP Bracelet winner, John Juanda. In the end, it was Brandon Adams that faced James Chen in a face to face confrontation. The two players exchanged the lead in chips several times. It took almost an hour and a half for James Chen to win the game and amaze the people with his massive stack to secure his second win during the Aussie Million 2017.
