The countdown has begun for the arrival of the first ever Apple iWatch betting app that Ladbrokes Australia is set to release, once Apple starts shipping the Apple Watch to customers on April 24, 2015. Developed by Ladbrokes Digital Australia Pty Ltd, the announcement of the app's forthcoming release came after Apple gave its approval for the app's inclusion in the App Store.
Apparently, Ladbrokes Digital met all the conditions that Apple requires before granting its approval to distribute a real money gaming app; whether for casino or poker gaming, sports betting, horseracing or lotteries. The most important of which are the licensing and permit granted by the gaming authority of the jurisdiction where the betting app will be offered, and the control feature that ensures restriction of use within the approved locations. Most of all, the app offering can be downloaded from the App Store free of charge.
Scott Hutchens, the Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Ladbrokes Australia took pride in announcing Apple's approval of the mobile betting app they designed and built specifically for the Apple Watch. The announcement was made through the Horseracing.com.au website, and came with Ladbroke's claim for being the first betting company to release a wagering app for the wearable Apple Watch.
The Ladbrokes Australia CIO describes the iWatch betting app as one that will enable Apple Watch users to communicate with the primary Ladbrokes iOS mobile app. That way, through the app's unique design and most straightforward betting interface, Ladbrokes' Australia-based customers can place real bets straight from their wrist.
He explained that the development of the iWatch betting app is in line with their continuing focus on innovating technology for their punters. Although majority of the bets being placed are communicated by way of phone, Mr. Hutchens added that they have seen a remarkable rise in mobile betting. Based on their current estimate, the proportion for mobile betting has already reached more than 50 of the total turnover.
He further remarked that the Ladbrokes iWatch app makes the Apple Watch more than just a novelty, since Ladbrokes can now engage with their punters through the new wearable device.
In conjunction with the forthcoming release of the iWatch betting app, Ladbrokes also introduced version 3.50 of their iOS mobile phone application. The new version includes the available Apple Watch features, which include functionalities for viewing upcoming events, the related win odds and for placing bets directly from the Apple Watch.
